Chris Maher and The WoWz at the 2007 Winter Antifolk Fest!  ///  Wednesday, 10  ///  dispatch from Chris!

This coming weekend, Chris Maher and The WoWz will both play the Fortified Winter 2007 Antifolk Festival at Sidewalk Café. Chris Maher will play on Saturday, February 10th at 10pm while The WoWz will play on Sunday, Febraury 11th at 11pm. (The 10th at 10? The 11th at 11? How convenient!) Go see 'em!

In other news, part one of Chris's 2006 Travelogue, "After the Electric Moon", has been published in the ninth issue of Urban Folk. Pick up your free copy around New York City (check Sidewalk, Cake Shop, Bowery Poetry Club...), download it on the internet or buy something from the RiYL Store! That's right, starting today - while supplies last - all orders of $8 or more will arrive with a free copy of Urban Folk!

To you procrastinators: We've only got about 10 more copies of Chris' 2005 chapbook, "What Was Magnetic", left in stock. Chris has started work on a new collection but has no immediate plans for a second printing of "WWM". So, get this while you still can! Likewise, the remaining copies of the Some Songs! Tour EP are more than half gone... Don't miss out!

Forever yours,
Recommended If You're Like Us and Like Records (RiYLUALR?!?!)

The Pathways Return!  ///  Wednesday, 10  ///  dispatch from Chris!

After a long hiatus from live shows, the Pathways have announced that they'll be returning to the stage on January 25th, 2007, at our favorite NYC venue, Cake Shop, alongside The Shot Heard 'Round the World, Golden Ball, and Goatgirl. In addition to this wonderful news, they've also posted the following message on their official website:

"We are very happy to announce that our second album, Gray Blaze, will be released on Asaurus Records this winter. If you don't know Asaurus, it's a wonderful, creative CD-R label based in Athens, GA. If you do know Asaurus, go buy yourself a new hat."

We do know Asaurus and so we bought ourselves a hat! (We think it looks nice.) We're excited to hear the new 'Ways record and we're happy they're working with such a cool label! If we weren't us, we'd want to be them. To join in on the fun, why don't you head over to the RiYL Store and treat yourself to their last two releases, the full-length CD Boat of Confidence and the 3-song 7-inch, "Productivity". We think they're swell!

Truly,
RiYL REX

(For a preview of Gray Blaze, look right...)

Somehow, this passed us by...  ///  Thursday, 4  ///  dispatch from Chris!

Joe Somar + Moustache + People's Court = Something Awesome. The Fugue play Uncle Paulie's in Brooklyn with An Albatross on January 26th and with Chinese Stars on February 22nd.

Speaking of which, Happy 2007! It's lookin' like RiYL will be more active this year than we were in 2006. Stay tuned!

Yours,
"REC RECS"
