VOTE!  ///  Tuesday, 26  ///  dispatch from Chris!

First of all, with the election a week away, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE... Especially those of you who will be voting in swing states!!! We can't afford another four years of Karl Rove and his cronies George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, John Ashcroft and Donald Rumsfeld. We've had enough of their evil already.

Now onto less-serious business: We've gotten a few new reviews as of late. Punk Planet gave the Morningsides a thumbs up in their new issue: "Rocking pop in the vein of Pavement if Pavement were more influenced by early Rolling Stones... A highly enjoyable release." The Wowz also got a wonderful review in the Columbia University Spectator last week: "Long Grain Rights is a folk-rock album reminiscent of Bob Dylan, with quirky, off-key Beach Boys harmonies and a lilting, tipsy pop sensibility reminiscent of early Beatles songs... This album is a gem no matter what sort of music you're into." There's also a review of Long Grain Rights and Nicotine Bubble Gum appearing in the upcoming issue of The Big Takeover: "The WoWz hark back to '60s sounds - Dylan on the dark imagery and acoustic, ramshackle 'When I Die'; a scruffier, folkier Hollies on 'He Wanders' -- but with a deliberate lack of polish that's very modern. The creaks and cracks in this music make it go down roughly, but they're what make it interesting." Way to go!!

The Fugue + Genghis Tron!  ///  Monday, 18  ///  dispatch from Chris!

Dudez!! The Fugue's Mysterious Animals EP has been mastered by Alan Douches and it sounds amazing. You can hear a sneak preview of "Whale Egg" over at MySpace.com: MUZIK. And, you've been anxiously waiting... Fugue and Pathways singles finally hatching in early November...

Oh! And we'll be releasing the 12" version of Genghis Tron's Cloak of Love EP sometime around March. It will be a split release with the new Glitter Pals label, Lovepump United. The CDEP will be out first on Crucial Blast in January. Wicked. [Editor's Note: This never happened. Lovepump United released the 12" on their own...]

Baby, where did our month go?  ///  Tuesday, 12  ///  dispatch from Chris!

How did a month go by with no updates? Crazy. So what's been up? First, we've got a friend helping out with the label. Please welcome Karina Czoka to the fold! She'll be helping with the day-to-day as well as heading up the press and promotions side of things for the next few months. We're glad to have her involved!! Rock it, K-chan.

Glitter Pals recently finished recording their first EP, Unleash the Compassion, with producer Martin Bisi. Its just under ten minutes of sonic brilliance. Cuz RiYL wouldn't be able to put the record out until the Spring, Glitter Pals Mookie and Jake have decided to start their own imprint to release the project. SWEET!! The more, the merrier! As an added bonus, we get to include the exclusive, Bisi-recorded song, "Aluminum Bat Bomb", on the upcoming RiYL Compilation. Killaaa.

The Wowz continue to play more shows than we can count. Check the shows section for new Wowz dates (including one at Sin-e) and some other upcoming RiYL-related dates. The response to Long Grain Rights has been extremely positive. Find out why: CAPITALISM.

Daggerhearts' Tori recently relocated from Philly to Baltimore, MD. She and Dirck are working on new Daggerhearts material. Cool! Likewise, the Pathways have regrouped as a five(?)-piece, with two new members. Expect the debut performance of the new lineup in November (coinciding with the release of the long-delayed "Productivity" 7")! Oh, and the preliminary artwork for the Boat of Confidence LP looks spectacular! We can't wait to see all of it.

The Fugue's Mysterious Animals is at West West Side being mastered by Alan Douches. We can't wait to hear the results!!! The "Four Corner Races" 7" is at the pressing plant and should be available here soon.

Oh, and Chris Maher's website has finally been revamped. Check out the new, minimalist design here: www.chrismaher .net.

More news soon?
