Release Schedule Coming into Focus?  ///  Tuesday, 16  ///  dispatch from Chris!

Hey! Our release schedule is coming into focus. Tonight, Bob and I went out to dinner with Evan and David of the Pathways and discussed plans for the upcoming Pathways releases. We agreed that the REC003 7" will come out in May with the songs "Productivity", "You've Got To Look Inside Yourself" and, most likely, "Bruchstück Eins". The exciting news is that that release willl be followed by either an EP or a full-length Pathways release in August or September. Evan and David slipped us a CD with some of the new recordings and they sound super-tacular. (Feel like adding your two cents as to which we should release? Skip on over to the message board.)

With the Pathways situation fairly set, we can now announce a July release date for the second Daggerhearts record, the Ugly Girl 7" EP. What?!?! TWO forthcoming Daggerhearts EPs? Yes, folks, it's true. Check out the socialis m section for tracks from both of those releases. Wooo!! Last but not least, the as-yet-unannounced 4th RiYL release, REC004, will probably be out in June. Though the exact contents of the release haven't been set in stone, we promise it'll be a doozy.

In some less-than-stellar news, the release date for REC001 has again been pushed back, due to the difficulty (and cost!) of silk-screening the covers. We've decided to scrap that plan and so we're now back to the design phase, since we've got to re-adjust certain things for offset printing. That said, we hope to make those available as early as March 23rd and no later than March 30th. The RiYL FunPak, or REC000, has also been pushed back, but only because we'll now be including even more great music (including new contributions from Moses Gunn, Glitter Pals and Yoko Kikuchi, among others). Cool! I guess that's all for now?

love,
Chris

Message bored? Then go to the RiYL MESSAGE BOARD! Thanks are due to Nico Foley, who has graciously hosted and set-up the board on his server. Go check it out, sign up and get bored! (For now, a link to the board will be in the connect section, until we find a more appropriate place...)

You'll also notice that we've now got new graphics at the top of every page. Thoughts? Suggestions? (Wait... that's what the MESSAGE BOARD is for!!!) So yeah, dig it all, and get excited for REC001, which will be out in a matter of days!

(Plus, check out the shows section for new dates featuring RiYL artists sharing bills with M. Doughty and Xiu Xiu, among others.)

Records in the mail...  ///  Saturday, 6  ///  dispatch from Chris!

Guess who got 500 copies of the debut single by the Morningsides in the mail this past Thursday? WE DID!!!! Yes folks, the first Recommended If You Like Records single has arrived!!! Assuming the artwork gets completed this week, we'll begin selling the single for $4.00 ppd starting on Tuesday, March 16th through our online PayPal store (shortly thereafter, the RiYL FunPak will also be made available).

See the single for yourself:

In other news, the tracklisting for the first Daggerhearts release, Sissy Boy EP 7", has been finalized. Check the Disco section for details. We've also decided to postpone plans for the RiYL Comp, Recommended If You Like Music, which was originally going to be REC005. It may get released sometime in late 2004 or early 2005, but for now, work on that release has stopped entirely (though some of the tracks intended for the comp will now appear on the RiYL FunPak Sampler). But fear not, we've got other exciting releases to release out instead. Speaking of which, everything is on schedule to release a the first Pathways 7" in mid-to-late May. Get excited?
