RiYL to release FUGUE EP!  ///  Monday, 16  ///  dispatch from Chris!

We've been sleeping on this bit of news for a while but it seems high time to announce it: Recommended If You Like Records will be releasing the upcoming Fugue EP, Mysterious Animals, this coming January. We've heard the new songs live and they're just unreal. Seripop will again be designing the cover, so not only will it SOUND great, but it'll LOOK great, too. Start the New Year's countdown...

Our friends in Finer Things, who appear on the upcoming RiYL Compilation, have a brand new website. You can check it out at finerthingsmus ic.com. They're also opening for the pop-alicious Pas/Cal at Sin-E towards the end of the month and you can buy tickets HERE. See you there?

Oh. We've been pregnant for months and it seems as though we're finally showing. The Wowz record will be here shortly and its little 7" brothers and sisters won't be too far behind.

CFM at the 2004 ANTIFOLK FEST!  ///  Sunday, 8  ///  dispatch from Chris!

Folks!!! (Get it?) Chris Maher will be the penultimate performer at this year's Fortified Records sponsored Antifolk Fest at the Sidewalk Café. He'll be playing at midnight on Saturday, August 21st, just before Lance Romance. Also on the bill are Narnack's Langhorne Slim, Just About To Burn (feat. Paleface, Breadfoot and Monica from Huggabroomstik), the Woes (nope, not the Wowz...), Joie DBG and more... To celebrate the occasion, we've added a brand new demo of "mE=MC²" to the socialism section. Enjoy!

RiYL Records Night: WRAP-UP!  ///  Sunday, 1  ///  dispatch from Chris!

How in the world is it August already? Time flies when yr having funnnn: Last night was Recommended If You Like Records Night at Galapagos (aka the RiYL-Super-Summer-Jamz-Dance-P arty) and it was completely radical. Galapagos was packed and every band was in top form.

Things got started with a few quieter songs by Chris Maher and ended with an explosive set from the Fugue. In between, the crowd went nuts for the reunited Daggerhearts, dug new songs by Glitter Pals, saw the second to last Pathways set with original drummer Pete Shanel, wintessed the second electric set by the Wowz and were treated to an unannounced appearance by the Morningsides.

Nick and Alex from Automato also kept things fun in between sets by spinning some excellent tunes. Things couldn't have gone much better... Below are some pictures from the show (if you've got more or any audio/video, send us an email at info@riylrecords.com):
